Village Opera Affair in the new look Village Hall
Chidham and Hambrook Village Hall hit the high notes on Saturday, November 21 st when an audience of sixty people were entertained with a lively talk about her life in opera by the retired international mezzo-soprano, Elizabeth Bainbridge. This unique insight into opera at the highest level was enjoyed by all, as was obvious from the many questions which followed.
The event, the first after a “makeover” by members of the committee, included a delicious chilli or chicken main course followed by chocolate brownies and lemon barbash, accompanied by a glass of wine. A donation to the Macmillan cancer charity has been made in lieu of a fee to Miss Bainbridge and the rest of the profits will go towards further refurbishment of the hall.
Now that the Village Hall has a completely fresh look, we hope that other groups will be encouraged to use it and generate more income to fund further improvements.
