Chidham and Hambrook Parish Council wants residents views spending priorities for approx £19K New Homes Bonus funds posted May 28 2016

NEW HOMES BONUS FOR THE PARISH OF CHIDHAM AND HAMBROOK

The New Homes Bonus (NHB) is a Government Scheme aimed at encouraging local authorities to grant planning permission for building new homes in return for additional revenue. There have been several significant housing developments within the Chidham and Hambrook Parish and under the NHB Scheme the Parish has been allocated monies from Chichester District Council (£18,776) towards which applications can be made for the potential funding of locally identified projects, facilities or schemes. The NHB Scheme will fund projects where there is a demonstrable need for significant capital investment or revenue to help with the provision of community amenities that are needed because of growth and that have tangible benefits for the community as a whole. The Parish Council is seeking views from residents within the Chidham and Hambrook Parish as to how they might wish this funding to be used and what they feel the spending priorities might be, with the aim of working collaboratively to prioritise these needs.

These views can be forwarded by email to clerk.chidhamandhambrook@gmail.com or by letter to: Mrs Caroline Davison, Parish Clerk and RFO, Chidham and Hambrook Parish Council, Appledram Lane South, Apuldram, West Sussex, PO20 7EG by Friday 10 th June 2016 latest.

SUNLEY APPEAL REJECTED BY MINISTER!!

No development north of Scant Road West. The Parish Council today heard that the Secretary of State has rejected the Appeal by Sunley Estates Ltd against refusal of Planning Permission. This means that the proposed development of 120 houses will now not take place. However, there is just one caveat: Sunley has the right to challenge the decision in the High Court within 6 weeks. We fervently hope that there is no such challenge or, if there is, that the challenge is lost. Come and celebrate this important step on the way to success at the Annual Parish Meeting this Thursday 28 April 2016 at 7.00 for 7.30 pm in the Village Hall ! You can also quiz Louise Goldsmith, County Council Leader on any matter.

Chidham & Hambrook Parish Clerk to retire.
Your Parish Councillors are very sorry that David Siggs, our Parish Clerk, will be leaving us at the end of April, due to ill health. He took over the Clerk’s post following Barry Mann’s death last year, first as a Locum Clerk and then as our substantive Clerk. David is very experienced in local government affairs and has been a superb Clerk. The Parish Council thanks him for his strenuous efforts in serving the Parish and the Parish Council and wishes him well for the future. Cliff Archer, Parish Council Chairman

The Queen's 90th Birthday Beacons
On 21st April 2016, beacons will be lit throughout the United Kingdom, in celebration of Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th Birthday. Local Authorities have agreed to take part. It is hoped that other groups will wish to participate by lighting a beacon. For more information, see here
Would you like Chidham & Hambrook Parish to have its own Beacon, perhaps linked with a Village Event? If you do, where should the Beacon, with or without a Village Event, be located? What Village Event would you suggest?
The Parish Council asks residents to convey their views (by Tel: 01243 790402 or email ) to the Parish Clerk David Siggs, or any Parish Councillor.

The Funeral of Arthur Cooper, former Parish Councillor for 45 years will be on
Thursday 23 July at 2.00 pm at St Mary’s Church, Chidham.
Afterwards, family and friends are welcome to have a drink in Arthur’s memory at the Southbourne Club.
From the family: 'Arthur’s wishes were that his body is cremated but he wants family and friends to have a drink in his memory after the church service and that he 'makes his own way to the crematorium'. His ashes will be buried alongside other members of his family in the churchyard.
Arthur Cooper, former Parish Councillor for 45 years died 27/6/2015
Message from Cliff Archer, Chairman Chidham & Hambrook Parish Council......... Posted June 27
I very much regret that I have to inform you that Arthur Cooper died today, Saturday 27 June 2015, having suffered a cardiac arrest. Arthur was a real friend to countless people, myself and my family included, and was always ready to come to the aid of anybody who was in need of help. Arthur served as a staunch, hard-working Parish Councillor for about 45 years until the May Elections this year. It was completely in character that Arthur continued to be available to help the Parish Council right up to his death, despite his poor health in recent months. I will remember Arthur as always having a smile on his face, even when struggling against difficulties. Our hearts go out to Arthur’s family and friends who I know will miss him greatly. Cliff Archer, Chairman Chidham & Hambrook Parish Council

Death of Barry Mann, Clerk to Chidham & Hambrook Parish Council

It is with great regret that I have to report that Barry Mann, our esteemed Parish Clerk, died last Sunday, 3 May 2015. He was not only a superb and highly conscientious Clerk, but also a great and kindly man and valued friend. I am sure that the Parish Councillors and all who interacted with him will miss him greatly.
