Easter Monday - April 5th 2010 |
The Annual Duck Race at the Dell. |
||
Blessed with excellent weather, a great turnout, an absolute torrent of swirling white water (relatively speaking) it was another great Duck Race. Thanks to all who helped, especially Steve and Carla |
Great corporate support and loads of ducks sponsored. All funds raised go to the PTFA. Congratulations to the winners (that's all of us) |

Chidham School Duck Race 2010 Blue skies, crystal waters, green grass and..oh yes, yellow ducks! Hundreds turned out on Easter Monday for the annual Chidham School PTFA duck race fund raiser in The Dell. 1st Duck 28 sponsored by Clair Fowler - prize on it's way! The best dressed adult duck was the ‘Bee Duck', designed by Mrs. Carole Clark. Second was duck 131 Carla Allen's ‘Duck of the North'. And third place was awarded to Gareth and Carol Haskets ‘Cricketing Duck' number 225. (Duck judging was carried out by independent members of the crowd with no entry or relative in the competition) The corporate race was second, and we very much appreciate all our sponsors for making the event such a wonderful fund raiser for the PTFA. Please support our local businesses! First place and holders for 2010 of the prestigious engraved glass trophy went to… The Barleycorn. A well deserved winner this year, and a huge thanks to Hamish and Natalie for their support. Better luck next year to everyone else. The best dressed corporate duck was awarded, for the 3rd year in a row, to Hilton Engineering! Come on you lot, lets give him a run for his money next time!! The main event is of course the children's race.. And what a close run thing it was, with finishing line adjudicator Mr Mitch Woods having to have an eagle eye in the photo finish. |

| The “Coarse” manager Mitch ably assisted by Beth B. and Matthew W. cleared the course of any obstacles, to ensure that the ducks did not get caught up during their races. Mitch said whilst the course was under a furlong long the going was wet. |
