Weymouth 2008 -
Church Youth Group
Trip

Father David joined 16 members of youth group, Chidham Bear and 6 ‘responsible adults' for the first day of their Bank Holiday weekend in Weymouth .

After enjoying first class rail travel from Havant it was straight onto the beach for the sand sculpture competition.

Becky L, on her first trip away with the group, was introduced to the fun by being buried up to her ears (it was actually her idea, honest mum)! ‘The Drunken Mermaid' team of Mollie C, Sophie L, Kate and Rosa T B, Maddy W and Katy C were awarded first prize with a design admired by all, including passers by taking photos.

Ice creams were provided by Father David before the short trip to Brewers Quay where the party split into shoppers, history buffs in the ‘Time Walk', and Tecno's at ‘Discovery'.

After dinner, a walk on Chesil beach and some first class stone skimming worked up an appetite for hot chocolate and an early(ish) night.

Day two started with the heartiest of breakfasts, great food was supplied at every opportunity!

Monkey World took up most of Saturday. Despite the odd shower, great fun was had by all.

No youth group trip would be complete with out a spot of homemade entertainment, so that evening was taken over by ‘Our Room's Got Talent'. The Hostel proprietors Andy and Becky joined in ‘Play Your Cards Right', hosted by the irresponsible adults, and were amazed by such acts as;

Lucy C reciting poetry with a spoon on her nose, Holly R, Zoë, Charlotte, Holly D and Katy C doing the chicken dance, the boys break dancing, and ‘The Older girls', giving themselves a round of applause!

The final morning was back to Weymouth beach for ‘The Kite Festival', fair ground rides and dough nuts! How did we manage to fit it all into 3 days? The kids were brilliant, the accommodation first class - thanks to Becky and Andy - and the adults were well behaved!

A huge seal of approval to Carol for all the hard work and for making it such fun for young and old.

See you next year.
