Congratulations to Jane Huetson who got a second place in the 2011 Chichester Business and Residents Garden competition |
| John Huetson is doing something a bit different . The Old House at Home plans to sell Chidham Best Bitter (4.2%), brewed by Langham Brewery. Tasting notes say it is a deep, golden beer, the nose has tropical fruit with a smooth maltiness in the back ground. It has a balanced dry and bitter finish with floral hop aroma. But just as important, this will be a beer for the whole community. For every pint sold 10p will go to a local project starting with Cobnor Activities centre who need a new engine for one their rescue boats. |

Grand Christmas Draw |
![]() |
||
| ‘The Old House at Home' Grand Christmas Draw in aid of Help4Heroes was held on Sunday 21st December. Organised by John and Jane Huetson who run the pub, the event raised over £1400. Before the Grand Draw, some members of the Penny Black Choir entertained the packed pub singing a number of old favourites. Mark Covell, (sailing silver medallist in the 2000 Olympics, and back in the UK taking a short break from the Volvo Ocean race where he is the media crew member of Team Russia.) compered the event and organised the draw. (see http://www.volvooceanrace.org/ ) Pub regular Tom Willard wearing his campaign medals including the Burma Star picked the winning tickets. Local farmer Jonathan Bentall won a trip in a plane from Goodwood donated by Goodwood Flying Club. There were many other splendid prizes including a drive in a Ferrari donated by Mithril Racing, a skiing holiday, a children's party for eight, and a luxury hamper. |

Binge drinking and the budget There is much comment that the duty on alcohol should be increased to lessen the scourge of binge drinking. |
|
John Huetson of 'The Old House at Home' is concerned that country pubs could be unintended casualties of any such duty hike and has written to our MP accordingly - see his letter and the reply received. Reply from Kevin Brennan MP and covering note from Andrew Tyrie |

| Tues Dec 18 Bad luck for the Old House at Home |
| Following a recent chimney fire, the pub had the bad luck for the brick wall in front of the pub to be in collision with a combine harvester. A combine harvester ....in December! Apparently the combine was going very slowly at the time. Opinion in the pub was divided on what speed the wall was doing. |

Feb 4th - Cabaret night at The Old House at Home - report and photos |

Jan 23rd 2007 Reporter Allison Ferns from BBC Southern Counties Radio with John Huetson in 'The Old House and Home' Allison was broadcasting short live pieces from Chidham - the 'place of the day' - for the Tommy Boyd show. She interviewed several people including Olga Baldwin, Mark Covell and Robin Yeld, as well as John and Jane Huetson. Why Chidham? It was a random choice. |
John and Jane Huetson moved into the Old House at Home during the summer, and have been making improvements upstairs. When this is finished, they have plans to make improvements to the Bar area. Previously they were at 'The Crown' in Emsworth. Welcome to Chidham! |
