It looks like the 'barbecue summer' summer could be a reality with even steamier heatwaves forecast. The best place to be in this weather is down by the water. Right now a cool breeze is drifting through my office window and the water is gently lapping on the hard at Itchenor. Can't wait to get out at lunchtime and dip my toes in! Full details

The PLAN - Comments:
Station Parking
Small Business units
A more frequent rail service
Boost local jobs for local people

Affordable housing for our children.
Young people need a recreation ground.

Aerial photo of the Marshalls site
It's a 10 acre site. What is the plan?
83 houses including 34 affordable houses. 7 (I think) Business units. Station drop off point. Children play area stays. No station parking, shop, allotments, in the plan at present.
What should be in the plan?
More housing, less housing, affordable housing, more employment opportunities, business start up units, green spaces, station parking, public facilities, leisure facilities, a shop ...??
This development will have a major affect on the future of our community -

Spoof News section

(or why you should not believe everything you read on the internet)
What is this word spoof? It has been defined as
1 Nonsense; tomfoolery.
2 A hoax.
3 A gentle satirical imitation; a light parody.
4 The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
But which is it? Tricky, huh?
If you have a Spoof News Scoop, please send it to us, and we will do our best to include it today, tomorrow, sometime or ...well it depends on our lawyers, who we pay handsomely for their 'I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole' advice.

Spoof news scoop

Corn found on Village website
(inspired by the Chichester Observer – Feb 12th )

Farmer O. MacDonald has been arrested on suspicion of hacking into the village website to plant corn, after his tractor got stuck in his USB port.

'I don't know what all the fuss is about, ee ay ee ay oh', said Farmer MacDonald.
He said he was just trying to diversify out of livestock into arable because having only one of each animal had not proved a successful strategy, he was partially deaf from the raucous noise of all his different animals, and besides, he said, ‘there's a lot of corn on the internet, or so my sons tell me'.

His business strategy was based around the assumption that it would be a lot cheaper to grow computerised corn, and then bake digital loaves to sell at the farmers market.
He was sure it would be 'virtually' impossible to tell the difference.
Rather than marketing his loaves as organic, he planned to stress their low calorie, low salt, low fat, low carbohydrate content.

On the strength of his business plan, he had had no difficulty securing a staggeringly large bank loan from a bank that has has now virtually gone bust.

Asked whether he could have been planning to plant oats or barley, Farmer MacDonald said he had already sown all his oaties, and had barley made a profit for years, so it definitely had to be corny.

In case you are wondering about the Chichester Observer story - here you are.

Apology
Currently there is not a lot of spoof news. Sometimes there just isn't any news, but it doesn't stop the BBC from filling a half hour slot at 1pm with no news and repeating the 'no news' every hour on the hour. Here at Chidham and Hambrook, we tell it like it is.
However, we promise that just as soon as one of us gets round to writing some news, we will let you have it, up to the minute, just as its breaking, raw, unvarnished, cliche free, and without any attempt to hide the earth shattering implications for the local community.
Disappointed? Have a look at the spoof news archive
